With the 2021 Archbishop Carroll boys basketball season at a close, the coach and the team reflected on a season that included the team reaching the elite eight in the state championships.

Carroll boys basketball coach Francis Bowe said, ¨Great season! (9-7) District 12/4A City Champions is an awesome accomplishment. We made it to the Elite 8 in states. With so much uncertainty, we are so lucky and blessed to get through the season healthy, and play as many games as we did! I’m so proud of this group!¨

Out of 119 schools in the state, only 12 of them make it to the state championship. The team finished their season eighth out of those 12 teams.

Team captain Matt Evans said, ¨The basketball team really means the world to me and changed my entire Carroll experience. It’s really important to get involved because I made bonds with the coaches and players that I will have in life and am grateful for that.¨

Caleb Carter, a senior on the basketball team said, ¨Not every game went in our favor, but no matter the circumstances, we always stayed together as a family kept to the same goal until the end. We had some young players that added a lot to the team that complimented some of the senior leaders. The win column didn’t show the quality of this team. We lost a lot of games because of lack of direction or just little mistakes, but one thing we always brought was winning energy every night.¨
