Senior goodbye: Sophie Mullen

Sophie Mullen

Dear Mom,

Thank you. Thank you for making the sacrifice of moving our family back to Pennsylvania and giving me the opportunity to go to Carroll. It has changed my life in the best way possible. I could not imagine finishing high school at any school other than Carroll. Although I say regularly how much I hate this place, I am fully in love with the friends it has brought me, the challenges it has put me through, and the life lessons I have learned.

As we know these three years haven’t been the easiest for you or me. But Mom, you have made the hard time more enjoyable and so much easier to get through. You are my rock, you are my whole world. You have shown me strength like no other. I idolize you. Thank you for pushing me to my fullest even when I didn’t want to be pushed or wasn’t able to. Thank you for being right by my side through everything. Thank you for listening to me and understanding me. Thank you for always being the shoulder I cry on and giving me the hugs that  pretty much can cure most of my problems. Thank you for being my best friend and never judging me for anything I come to you with.

If I’m being honest, I wasn’t thinking I was going to graduate high school. Or at least not on time. But because of you, your support, and your efforts towards me, I’m doing it! You always told me “we got this” and most times you said it I didn’t believe you. There were times when it felt nearly impossible to catch up on work or get into school. But I trusted you. I have tried so hard to get here.

You have worked tirelessly to help me live a “normal” life through all of this and get me the help that I needed. You have done such an amazing job. You are the reason I am still standing and still happy. I don’t know how I got so insanely lucky to have you as my mom, role model, and best friend.              Love, Sophie
