Dear Archbishop Carroll,

I don’t know where to start.  I guess I’ll start by saying thank you.  Thank you for the best four years of my life.  Of course we have had our ups and downs but even still, the downs never lasted long.  From the day I stepped on campus for freshman orientation, I knew I had found my home.  I can’t even begin to fathom where all the time went.  

There are many aspects about you that I like, many aspects about you that I love, and even some aspects that I would change.  I love how welcoming you are.  I love how kind you are.  I love your faculty, even though some give enormous amounts of work. 

My favorite memory from Carroll is Kairos 105 in February 2022.  I was a leader on this Kairos and it brought so much joy to my life to see my retreatants sharing the experience with each other.  I remember when I went on Kairos 104 in October 2021 as a retreatant.  The experience was eye opening.  It helped me gain so many new friendships with people I would have never thought I would be friends with.  It brought me closer to the people I was already friends with and it certainly brought me closer to Christ.  

Some advice I would give to the class of 2023 is to make this school yours.  By “make this school yours,” I mean to do everything regarding the school.  Go to every game, every play, and every event possible.  By being the driving force behind the enthusiasm at Carroll, you will inspire the underclassmen to do the same, thus building an unbreakable family.  

Some advice I would give to underclassmen is to make friends with the upperclassmen.  Having friends that are juniors and seniors can make the high school experience so much less daunting.  Upperclassmen can give you car rides to and from school so you don’t have to take the bus and they can even help you with assignments from strict teachers and give you tips and tricks to help you succeed in class.

As senior year comes to an end, I can’t give enough thanks to Carroll for helping me come out of my shell and become the man I am today.
