Last Tuesday, the Archbishop Carroll boys bowling team defeated the number one ranked-team in the Philadelphia Catholic League, Archbishop Ryan, 3-1.

This major upset came as Carroll is in the midst of only its second season.

“I was on the edge of my seat for a majority of the game,” said bowling manager Brooke Rogan, a senior. “It was like pins and needles.”

The team had a right to be nervous as it lost to Ryan last year.

Carroll’s record last year was 2-16; this year, it’s 5-4-1.

“We believe we have a chance to win every time,” said athletic director and head coach Mr. Thomas Quintois. “We have definitely put the work in in order to keep improving and achieve this victory.”

The team competes in many games throughout the week and hosts weekly practices at Wynnewood Lanes in order to improve their skills.

“It definitely helps that we’ve all been putting in work on the off season,” said senior Francis DiCarlo. “This game gave us the confidence we needed to keep moving up in the PCL and to trust ourselves.”
