Senior goodbye: Nick Hammond

Dear Carroll,

Early into my sophomore year of high school I made one of the best decisions of my life, and that was transferring schools. Since transferring to Carroll I have made countless memories and, more importantly, a family at this school. I have met some amazing people, and, whether it’s other students or teachers, they have taught me so much. I thought I was ready to graduate, but now that it’s the end, I’m kind of getting kind of sad that I have to leave. Part of me feels a bit ripped off over the hybrid-schedule we had in my first year here. After having completely normal school again all of this year, I wish that I could start high school again with no COVID or any of that. Despite this, it is time for me to move on.

During my time here I have had some of the best experiences, whether it was sports games, homecoming, or prom. Although they weren’t the greatest, I really enjoyed watching my friends play at the football games. The way that the student section would freak out when we would score just one touchdown was awesome. I really wish they won a game. Homecoming and prom were really fun too. It was really nice to see the Carroll community come together and see my classmates all dressed up.

Finally, I want to give some advice to the underclassmen. Firstly, you guys need to make the most of these four years because they go by faster than you’d think. Secondly, put yourself out there. I barely talked in my sophomore and junior years, but this year I’ve made so many new friends. Thirdly, get involved. I was involved in absolutely nothing during my time here and I really regret it. There’s no shame in trying out for a sports team or joining a club, because if you don’t you might regret it.

Once again, thank you for everything, Carroll.
