Senior goodbye: Damian Salomone-Myers

Dear Archbishop Carroll High School,

I started my journey at Carroll in September of 2019. The first couple months of school were pretty fun with the school having a family
environment and everyone just trying to get along with each other. Once it hit spring of 2020, we heard news of schools closing for maybe two weeks because of COVID. We later found out that we would not be in for the rest of the year and even for most of sophomore year.

Although we were not in school, people in the school would always be talking to one another and try to stay connected. During this time, I was mainly focused on making money for myself so I did not have much time to really talk to others from school during COVID,  considering we were not in school.

Once I returned to school in September 2021, I was pretty happy to be back. Everyone at the school just tried their best to get along with each other and it brought the family vibe of the school back. Even though we were all separated for almost two years, everyone was still back right to how they were in 2019 before COVID.

I feel like our class, especially, as said by the teachers, was one of the best classes that I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Most of
my time here was mostly just fun — just breezing through school work and talking to my friends in the school. Even the teachers seemed to just be happy to be back. They didn’t even post that much work for us, considering COVID, so it showed just how much the school cared.

During my final year here at Carroll, I have had the most fun out of all four years. I made way more friends than in the first three years and I got more active in school life. If I could give one word to people who are just starting in the school, it would be to get involved. If you just sit idling by, people and events will just pass you by.

My good-bye to Carroll will never really be a good-bye, considering this place is kind of a part of me now as I feel it is for a majority of the people in my class, especially, but for now this will be my good-bye to the building itself.
