Senior goodbye: Michayla Amalfitano

Dear Past Self,

Look at how far we have come! You did it. You’re graduating high school. Keep proving them wrong. Ever since the first day of school, you have done more extensive and better things every day. Look at you. Now your hard work paid off. Your dreams are finally coming true. Ever since you walked into career day in kindergarten as a nurse, you told people that’s what you want to do. Well, guess what? We are doing it. We’re going to nursing school.

You have made the most amazing friends since the first day of high school and have learned so much about how people grow and they change.

As we’ve grown, we have learned about ourselves as well. We learned how to adjust to new things. While people have come and gone, you haven’t changed by them. You changed for the better.

Embrace everything we’ve accomplished. We’ve gotten so much more involved with everything over these past four years. Whether it’s with sports or volunteering at school, you’ve found a way to make everything work. Even while being swamped with work, you’ve found a way to make everything and get almost everything in on time. Take everything that happened in high school and learn from it — the good things, the hardships, the friends that came and went, and the ones that have been here since the beginning.

While going through these past four years, you have shown that you can push yourself past your limits and work harder than anyone to achieve your goals. We’ve grown so much about ourselves and have not let anyone tell us differently, but instead got people to listen to our ideas and got them to hear your voice. Keep pushing through and prove to people what you are actually made of. This is who you are and no one can change that. Embrace who you are and show that no one can change you because they don’t like who you are. Let the hardships be teaching moments because everyone has room to grow and keep pushing forward. Be the light everyone knows you are.

Love,

Michayla Amalfitano
