Archbishop Carroll Theater Society is starting its tech week, the final week of practice before the opening of the fall show “James and the Giant Peach.”
On Wednesday, the actors and the costume crew put on their costume parade. This is an event before tech week to finalize all of the actor’s costumes.
“Preparing the costumes is going great,” said Mrs. Sarah Fickling, the costume designer. “We’re really excited for how everything will turn out. There are only a few final changes and alterations left.”
Stage crew is also finalizing set pieces and establishing their roles for the show.
“I’m the sound booth operator,” said junior Rameer Woods. “Progress is definitely being made. I feel by the time the show is ready, the set will be ready, the sound will do the best we can, and hopefully we will perform a good show.”
Sofia Palumbi, a junior, agreed.
“I work up with one of the two spotlights,” Palumbi said. “We still have a lot of work to do, but I’m very hopeful.”
Tech week starts on today and extends until opening night on Nov. 16. During the week, all aspects of the show are put together to create the final production.
A matinee will be performed for elementary schools on Nov. 15 before opening night.
The show is opening on Nov. 16 and will continue until Nov. 19. Performances start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are on sale now and are $15. Carroll students can watch the performance with no charge if they present their school ID.
“I am getting that nervous energy before opening a show because it’s all about to come together,” said Ms. Meghan McNamera, the director of ACTS. “There’s still a lot to work on, but I can tell it’s going to be a great show.”
