Archbishop Carroll’s bowling team defeated Delaware County rival Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School on Dec. 7 at MacDade Lanes in Holmes.
Coming off a loss against incumbent Philadelphia Catholic League champ Archbishop Ryan, the Pats were locked in and determined to beat Bonner.
“Today was a must win,” senior Stephen Thomson said. “We executed well and got the job done.”
The Pats were off to an early lead after the first game in the three-game contest, with seniors James Klusarits and Patrick McGonigle bowling 178 and 183, respectively. The Pats took the W on the first game.
The second game was where the Pats pulled away. In the second game, Senior Marco Petroccia put up a score of 195 and the Pats were ahead by more than 100 pins.
“Going into the third game, I just knew we were the better team that day,” Klusarits said. “We kept bowling our way, and never looked back.”
Going into the third game, the Pats had the contest in hand they already won two games. That didn’t stop Klusarits, who racked up a score of 185. The Pats lost that third game, but overall took the win.
“We really needed this win,” senior Jesse Ventre said. “This win gives us great momentum going into next week.”
The Pats record is now 1-1, and they look to be taking home a win against Archbishop Wood on Dec. 12 at Thunderbird Lanes in Warminster.
