On January 27, Archbishop John Carroll lost its second Hi-Q match of the season to Chichester and Radnor High. At the end, the score was 28, 31, and 57 for Carroll, Chichester, and Radnor respectively.
The competition started out relatively even with Carroll ending the first round with 24 points and the other two teams also having their point count in the 20s.
Despite the equal start, in the second round Carroll lost the entire competition by nearly half the points. Carroll had only answered one question correctly whereas Radnor answered nearly every question to double its point count. Chichester answered a few questions correctly to gain 31 points.
“In this season, we are clearly behind, and there is no way we are winning the big prize, but I am hopeful that the team will continue to gain confidence,” Hi-Q moderator Mrs. Elizabeth Collins said.
With two consecutive losses, Carroll has little to no chance of making it to the semi-finals. There is only one more match until every school tallies their total points throughout the season to find out who will move on in the competition.
