Dear Archbishop Carroll,
Thank you for four amazing years. As the year comes to end, it leaves me thinking about all of the great friends and faculty I have been lucky to meet. It also has me thinking of all the memories I have made along the way, good and bad. These times have shaped me into the person that I am today. It hasn’t always been easy for me but throughout my years, I’ve always had people in my life who helped me. Some were friends. Some were teachers. Most important were my parents.
If I could offer any advice to upcoming seniors, I would say to make sure you stay on top of your work. This is a very big year and the last thing you want to worry about is overdue work. This is a year to enjoy and if you are always stressing over your homework, you don’t have the chance to enjoy the last couple of months you have with your friends. On top of that, I would tell the upcoming seniors to try new things this year, be it a club, a sport or even trying to make new friends. After this year you will not see a majority of your classmates again, so anything that you do will not have as big an impact on your life as you think.
While reminiscing about these last four years, it is a bittersweet moment as I’m moving away from everything that is normal for me. I’m very excited for what the future holds for me with this new start. It gives me a fresh start. All of my mistakes don’t matter anymore. A whole new state and the opportunity to make new friends and memories leaves me also thinking about the friends going on their own fresh starts that I won’t be able to go to school every day and see, in this school I have grown in, with the teachers who have helped me along the way. Most importantly, I won’t be at home. I will have to gain a new level of independence, and learn how to get by without the assistance of my parents.
Sincerely,
Hayden Skowronek
