Dear Archbishop Carroll,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for my four years at this school. There have been ups and downs for me throughout these four years. Imma be honest: I did not like Carroll the first two years. I believe COVID-19 played a big factor in that because of how different everything was being operated and it was hard for me to adapt. My junior and senior years were better because of the friends that I’ve had since elementary school, the people I met at Carroll, and the underclassmen who are like my younger siblings.
The underclassmen that I’ve met and knew already helped me enjoy coming to school more every day. Just being able to be a role model/big brother to them made me happy to be a part of the Carroll community and be a part of their lives. I also love the connection I was able to make with my teammates on the track and field team. I wish I had one more year with them, but I know when I leave they will shine next year and continue to leave their mark on Carroll. I never thought I would have had the connection and relationship with them that I do now. At the beginning of the year, I thought they wouldn’t take the sport seriously, wouldn’t listen to me when I tried to help them or would quit during the season. I was wrong on so many levels. The way I was able to get them to have that drive to get better every week was amazing and they all started to get better every single day.
Now that the season is almost over because the PA State championship meet is the week, I’m happy about how far we came as a group and I’m going to miss them. I want them to know that I will always be there for them and I want them to keep working hard to be better than me. I want them to put their name out there so they can be seen and noticed. I also want them to remember that to be the best, they have to trust God and put in the work that nobody else wants to do or is doing. I want to finish this by saying thank you to my teammates and thank you to Carroll for shaping me to become the young God-fearing man that I am becoming.
Sincerely:
Gabriel Cuffey
