Dear Carroll,
As graduation is approaching, I look back on my past three years at Carroll. It’s really hard to believe that I am not about to be a senior anymore. However, as a chapter of my life closes, a new one begins. It is a bittersweet moment for me. When I first entered my senior year, I had thought that it would be a breeze, easy even. I was very much mistaken in the end. I lacked motivation and struggled to keep up with my work. The amount of missed homework showed and made me wonder if I could graduate. My friends, older and younger, became my main source of motivation to finish out my school year. I am truly grateful for them lifting me when I couldn’t lift myself.
Carroll has played a significant role in shaping the person I am today. I can’t imagine who I would have become if I stayed at my old school. This school has provided me with opportunities to grow academically and personally. As I come to the last couple of days of being at Carroll, I am filled with mixed emotions. Whether I am excited or scared, I know I am prepared because Carroll has prepared me to take on life one step at a time. The end may be near, but the impact this school has had on my life will last a lifetime.
I was always that junior who did not understand why seniors would slack off during their senior year. Well, that was until I became one of those seniors. As a result, I want to share some advice with all the juniors. I know it will be your senior year soon, and you will be ready to graduate. However, there will be challenges, so stay focused. When applying to colleges, take advantage of each opportunity your counselor provides you. However, also remember to enjoy it and take in each moment. You are only a high school senior once, and remember to breathe because everything will be worth it in the end.
Zoe Savoy.
