Dear Teachers,
Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to receive proper education. Coming into Carroll during the year of the pandemic, I was afraid I wouldn’t be taught to my expectations. However, all of the teachers I had showed unconditional help and support. They all helped me reach out of my comfort zone to become a better student and person. I want to especially thank Mr. Arnoldy and Mrs. Carpenter for pushing me to my full potential. They showed me that if I put my mind to something, I can get it done and be successful. Despite the times I haven’t felt like doing the work, in the end, it has benefitted me so much and really makes me feel like I will be successful.
My favorite memory here at Carroll was having art class with my now best friends during my junior and senior year. I knew as soon as I sat down at the table with those three other people they would be lifelong friends. I grew up all through elementary and middle school with these people, so spending time together in art was so fun. I was never passionate about art until I walked into Mrs. Carpenter’s classroom. Seeing her have such passion for the subject inspired me. Another one of my favorite memories was the New York trip with Valenti’s class. I didn’t really have any expectations for the trip, but it ended up being my absolute best memory. It was so fun to be able to get out of the school for a day with my classmates and friends.
Some advice I would give to the juniors is to take your time. Senior year is easily the best year of high school not just because it’s your last. Don’t rush into leaving because as much as I wanted to last year, I’m sad to leave this year. More advice I would give to all underclassmen is to not let other people’s opinions affect you. As someone who lets the opinions of others affect me, now it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, we are all here for the same reason, and talking about others won’t make the years go faster. Focus on you and making yourself and your family proud with your accomplishments feels so good.
