Dear Archbishop Carroll community,
Thank you for a great four years of high school. I have made the most of the time I spent at this school. Even though I was not involved in many school spirit activities, I had fun and made so many friends. I never thought I could come this far and be where I am today. At the end of junior year and this entire senior year, I have worked so hard and put in more effort than ever before. Carroll has taught me many things that I will never forget.
Some advice I would give to underclassmen is to just focus on yourself. Focus on yourself and do your own thing. In the end, it is not going to matter what other people think about you or how they judge your lifestyle. You are in charge of your own life, and you make your own decisions and first impressions. It is important to be a good student and make your time memorable for not just yourself but for your teachers and administrators too. You want them to remember you and your dedication to this school. I think that a first impression of a person is very important. Try to be known as a nice person who is a good example and a fine student, not the class clown who does not behave and never turns in work. Going to school events and games is a great way to learn about the people around you and in your class; it’s very fun too.
Finally, I’d like to say that I learned a lot this year. I especially learned a lot from my English teacher, Mrs. Gimpel, who made me work hard and put time and effort into all assignments. Maybe I’m not the best at writing research papers, but I can do more than I ever have before. I thank her for believing in me and showing me that even if I don’t feel like doing the work, it’s going to be a big help in the end. Thank you for explaining Hamlet so I could pass all my tests and understand what is going on. I’ve had a great four years at Carroll and hope that all other students can feel the same.
Sincerely,
Avery Schreiber
