Dear Archbishop Carroll,
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to attend your high school and providing a safe place for me to get a quality education. This school has allowed me and other students to thrive and share our interests with each other socially and academically. Starting from the bottom as a 9th grader all the way to senior year, came with lots of obstacles and mixed-feelings. One of the biggest challenges we faced as young high school students was COVID-19. This impacted many students socially, mentally and academically. With half of the school online and the other half in person, I was not able to meet my classmates. Archbishop Carroll did their best to ensure students did not feel stressed out or worried about the quantity of assigned homework. The teachers were very lenient with students turning their work in late and gave them leeway when submitting assignments. Zoom classes were a challenge especially for freshmen. Some students were sleeping on zoom calls, and forgetting to attend virtual classes occasionally. Nevertheless, we persevered and followed-through.
Moving onto sophomore year, we are now together fully as a class. We now are in school everyday and zoom is no longer needed for online classes. For some students it was still hard transitioning from online classes to in-person instruction. Teachers were still giving students some time to adapt to the normalcy of the everyday Carroll routine.
I would also like to thank my mom for being with me throughout my entire high school experience. My parents were supportive, helping me with homework and problem solving everyday high school issues that arise. For juniors, transitioning into becoming seniors, please ensure you continue to stay focused. The beginning of senior year is very important. Slacking off will lead you down the wrong road. At the end of the school year you can become stressed because of low grades, or even failure warnings. So staying consistent and intentional about your academic success is the best advice I could give.
When it comes to graduating, it makes me happy to see all of the class of 2024 being able to move forward in life and become young adults moving onto higher learning. For all of the teachers, I wish you all the best in the coming future.
Sincerely,
Isaiah Wolffe
