Dear Carroll friends,
Thank you for being with me throughout my four years attending Archbishop Carroll High School. Our freshman year, I was half online and half in-person. Many of my close friends now, if not all of them, were assigned different days than me, so the most I knew about them was their first and last name, appearance, and the color of their bedroom wall. I heard from several adults at that time that this was the opposite of how your freshman year was supposed to go. It was the year to branch out and explore. Instead, we were learning virtually one day and shoved into classrooms the next, six feet apart and in masks.
Thankfully, when something is meant to be there’s simply no way to stop it. Even the COVID restrictions couldn’t keep you guys away from me, and things only got better as the quarantine precautions began to roll back. Eventually, each and every one of you beautiful people crossed my path and showed me the joy and strength that true friendship can give to someone. Through the sky-highs to the absolute rock-bottom lows, I have found a safe space in my Carroll family and will miss it dearly when I’m gone. An enormous contributing factor to this was the community I found in ACTS. I wish I would’ve known how much that experience would change my life.
I believed that I was perfectly satisfied sitting in the audience. I wasn’t ever planning to audition. However, you all saw something in me, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Doing shows with everyone was the highlight of my time here. I’ve had the best moments of my highschool career not just because of ACTS, but the people who make it what it is. Thank you for laughing with me, crying with me, getting me out of the house, and getting me up on the stage. But most importantly, thank you for giving me something wonderful to look back on in the future.
Sincerely, Isis Holt
