Mr. Michael Benecke’s junior homeroom won Archbishop Carroll student council’s annual door decorating contest.
Using the theme of Polar Express, a 2004 movie starring Tom Hanks about a boy’s Christmas Eve adventure on a train, the submission included string lights, a rendering of the front of a locomotive with cotton fluff smoke coming from the smoke stack, and train tracks made out of tape that ran from the classroom’s front door to its back door.
Mr. Benecke’s homeroom and all homerooms that participated had the first two weeks of December to put on their creative hats and deck the halls with Christmas decor for the competition, which was judged on Dec. 13.
As a reward for its effort, Mr. Benecke’s homeroom will be served breakfast during homeroom one day in January.
