At a Jan. 15 meet, Archbishop Carroll girls swim team lost to St. Hubert’s. However, the boys defeated La Salle, 43 to 13.
Many members of the team won their heats, including junior Brennan Donohue in the 100 backstroke, sophomore Augustino Russo in the 50 freestyle, junior Konnor Roselle in the 200 IM and 10 freestyle, and sophomore Owen Gallagher in the 200 freestyle. In addition, junior Chris Dellaratta, junior Matt Marquess, junior Colin McCarthy, and sophomore Coleman Dalethe won the 200 free relay and Donohue, Russo, Gallagher, and Roselle won the boys 400 free relay.
Three swimmers qualified for districts: senior Maddie Formica in the 200 freestyle event, Roselle in the 200 IM event, and Donohue in the 100 fly event.
Some swimmers also dropped exceptional amounts of time. Alexis Jurec dropped half a second in the 50 freestyle, Marquess dropped one second in the 50 freestyle, and Donohue dropped one second in the 100 butterfly.
Junior Erin Goodridge complimented the team’s effort.
“We all tried our hardest to get our best times,” she said.
