Archbishop Carroll battled hard against Archbishop Wood during a Jan. 20 meet hosted by Carroll at Widener University. While Carroll girls swim team lost, the boys won 46-4.
Two swimmers won their heats: junior Brennan Donohue in the 100 breaststroke and sophomore Coleman Dale in the 50 freestyle. Two swimmers also qualified for districts: sophomore Augustino Russo in the 200 freestyle, and Donohue in the 100 freestyle.
A number of swimmers lowered their times: Russo in the 200 freestyle dropped nine seconds in the 200 freestyle, freshman Ivery Potoway dropped one-half a second in the 50 freestyle and five seconds in the 100 breaststroke, Donohue dropped one second in the 100 freestyle, and freshman Grace Lazzari dropped three seconds in the 100 breaststroke.
Sophomore Erin Goodridge described the competition in the meet.
“We all did a really good job; however, the Wood girls were good,” she said.
