The Archbishop Carroll baseball team fell to Friends Central 13-1 on Monday afternoon at home.
Senior Mark Fohner got the start on the mound for Carroll. The righty went 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on just two hits and walking no batters while striking out three.
In the bottom of the second inning, an error by the Phoenix second basemen allowed catcher Dan McNally to cross the plate as Carroll’s only run of the day while leadoff man Drew Mulligan reached base safely.
Friend Central’s first run came across in the fourth on an RBI double.
Fohner’s poise on the mound kept Carroll knotted up at one through the top of the fifth inning. Two batters into the inning, head coach Pat Dunn lifted Fohner as sophomore Max Barnes entered the contest.
Barnes would proceed to allow four runs and not record an out. Sophomore Aaron Schreiber followed it up by letting up another four runs to close out the inning. In the seventh and final inning, junior John Thomson let up another three runs to close out the day.
Carroll finished the day with five hits and two errors while leaving eight runners on base.
The Pats will get a few days to recoup following Monday’s debacle before they head off to East Falls to take on Penn Charter on Friday evening for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
