Archbishop Carroll’s juniors have some busy days coming up, with their prom, their ring mass, their retreat, and their senior pictures all falling between April 4 and April 10. The hallways are buzzing with excitement among the soon-to-be seniors, with dates, dresses, plans, and rings being the main topics of discussion.
Junior Emmie Menna expressed her feelings about growing up, becoming a senior, and getting ready for her last year of high school.
“It honestly feels surreal,” Menna said. “People weren’t really kidding about how fast time goes. I’m excited for my pictures, but at the same time… it’s bittersweet knowing that next year, we graduate and go off on our own career paths.”
Junior Ring Mass is a staple within the Archbishop Carroll community, and a special night to celebrate all of the juniors. Juniors will be back at school by 5:45 p.m. today in their full winter uniforms, ready to receive their class rings at the 6:30 p.m. liturgy attended by their families and the faculty.
On Friday, juniors will be in school but not for their regular classes as they again focus on the spiritual during the junior retreat.
Saturday’s junior prom has been coming together over the past few weeks, with the prom committee — led by Mrs. Julia Young, the assistant principal for student affairs — beginning to piece together its plans for decorating and catering.
“The prom committee is very enthusiastic and hardworking,” she said. “They are full of a lot of great ideas to make junior prom successful for their whole class.”
Macie Schundler echoed Mrs. Young’s assessment.
“I think we’re doing a good job planning things out and prepping for the dance,” she said. “I think the juniors should be looking forward to Saturday. We’ve come up with a lot of great ideas.”
Lastly, the juniors will sit for their senior portraits next week. The photographs by LifeTouch’s Prestige Portraits will be featured at no cost to the students in next year’s yearbook, and the students will be able to buy them for themselves, too, if they want.
With the events, the juniors’ countdown to their senior year begins.
