Ryan took over with a big second quarter. The Raiders struck first with a running touchdown and an extra point to go up 15-7. Carroll then fumbled the ball, giving Ryan prime field position. Ryan capitalized on it with another touchdown and an extra point to add to the Raiders’ lead, making it 22-7. Carroll got a good return on the kickoff and, with a combination of penalties and plays, made it into the red zone. Ryan’s defense bore down, though, and Carroll failed to put points on the board.
Ryan received the ball to start the third quarter. A good kickoff by Carroll pinned the Raiders inside their own 15, but they put together a few short yardage plays before having a big run from their own half for another touchdown. The extra point was good. After the kickoff, Carroll turned the ball over on an interception, giving Ryan good field position on Carroll’s 30. The Carroll defense put up a big stop, though, and Ryan came away with no points. Carroll went three-and-out and was forced to punt. Ryan led 29-7 after the third quarter.
Entering the fourth quarter, Ryan added to its lead with a passing touchdown and an extra point. Both teams traded punts and turnover on downs to end the game with a victory for Archbishop Ryan by a final score of 36-7.
Carroll will look to get back on track next Saturday against Conwell-Egan, which is 2-5 overall and 0-4 in its conference. It should be a winnable game for the Patriots.
