Matteo Santoleri: Senior memory
May 28, 2020
My favorite memory at Archbishop Carroll was my first day there. I just recently transferred from Malvern Prep and I was extremely excited to be reunited with all my grade school friends. I remember this day very vividly because it was the start of a new chapter in my life, and, man. was this chapter a great one.
The morning of my first day at Carroll, I met John Lake, one of my best friends, at Wawa so he could drop me off a Carroll shirt for the dress down day because I had no carroll gear yet. John could see how excited I was to go to the same high school as he attended, and I could tell he was very happy for me.
When I arrived at Carroll I had no clue where to park, so pulled up right next to John Lake in a random spot that happened to be Tyler Kehoe’s. If you know Mr. Bugs like I do, he was in my ear all day about how he had to park so far away from school and walk miles from the back lot to homeroom. As Mr. Kirsch would say, “You just can’t make this stuff up.” Going back to when I first arrived at Carroll, I got out of my car and immediately saw Luke DePiano and Rob Flood laughing at each other because Luke’s lunch ripped open and his orange was rolling down the parking lot. When Luke and Rob saw me, they both started screaming across the parking lot, “Yo big hoss!” This was one of our inside jokes from grade school. We all then walked into school together and reminisced about all of our old memories.
What made this day so special was seeing all my friends for the first time in awhile and just immediately picking up from where we left off in grade school. This day isn’t just one of my Carroll favorite memories; it’s one of my lifetime favorite memories.
