Senior goodbye: Juliana LaFontano

Juliana LaFontano

Dear Archbishop John Carroll,

Ever since I walked into this building freshman year, I always felt comfortable. The people here are just so different from any other school. Of course when you’re a freshman, you’re going to be nervous. I remember the first day of school I didn’t speak a word, but a week later I never shut up, and probably never will. My favorite memories are from freshman year. My favorite class was definitely my English class. I never could stop laughing in that class, and freshman year is when I built a connection with my favorite teacher, Mrs. Gimpel. Every time I would be laughing, she would give me a look, but she could never yell at me because I knew she wanted to laugh with me. Half the time she did. She has always been so genuine. She will tell you the truth at any time, even if you are in the wrong. Another thing I loved about freshman year was having my brother and his friends here with me, too, because I always felt safe when they were here. Also, I met my best friends and we have been close ever since. They are going to be in my life forever, and I thank Carroll for that.

I got to meet so many amazing people, and I truly found myself at this school. When I had to transfer back to my public school, I was so upset. Nothing felt the same. I didn’t feel wanted there. Being at Carroll is so different to any other school. The teachers are very understanding, and the people here are very genuine. I truly believe I was meant to be here for so many reasons. My faith life was never a big part of my life until now. I want to thank Father Cavara for that as well. I was never really involved with the church, but he is an amazing spiritual leader. Kairos is something I will forever cherish, especially when I was chosen to lead. I feel like I am so loved inside of this building. I am excited to move on with my life, but I know I will always look back on these times and reminisce.

I just want to thank all the teachers, classmates, and everyone else who made Carroll such an amazing place for me to be. I learned so many things about myself and the people around me throughout these years. Carroll will always have a special place in my heart.

Thank you,

Juliana LaFontano (LaF)
