A 5k run and walk will happen at Wilson Farm Park in Wayne on September 18 to raise money for schools and water projects in Africa.

Sponsored by the McCoy Foundation, a Connecticut-based and family-run non-profit organization started by a Philadelphia native to support families in Africa, the fund-raising event will raise money for projects in Rwanda and Tanzania. The foundation provides lunches to school students in those countries as well as financial support for clean water pipeline projects, in conjunction with the Chris Long Foundation, in Tanzania.

Participation in the race costs $27.50. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. The three people who raise the most money will be invited to a video call with the teachers and students from one of the McCoy Foundation’s supported schools.
