The Archbishop Carroll boys football team takes on Cardinal O’Hara Friday. Both teams look to capture their first win of the 2022 season.

The game will be held at Cardinal O’Hara High School at 7 p.m.

“This week at practice we have been putting an emphasis on being mentally focused making sure everyone knows their assignment and O’Hara’s tendencies,” wide receiver Shane Bockrath said. “I think everyone this week is feeling eager. This game is an incredible opportunity for us to get our first win. We all have a drive to bring home a W to this school and I believe this is the week we can make it happen.”

The team is off to a 0-7 start overall with a 0-4 record in the conference.

“Obviously it has been tough for us to score points this season,” senior Pat Liney said. “The players and the coaches both know that this is one of the main problems. We’ve been emphasizing in practice on scoring on every play possible. We need to strive to put the ball in the end zone every play. The key to getting the run and pass game going is everyone doing their 1/11 on the field. When we are running we need to give 110 percent on blocking in order to open lanes for the running backs, and when we are passing we need receivers to get open we need to give the QB enough times to throw.”

This is a game that the Patriots can look to turn their season for the better and cap off their first win in two seasons.

“The key to winning this game is making sure we don’t beat ourselves with mental mistakes and doing our 1/11 not worrying about anyone else,” said senior Paul Rogan.
