Mr. Brian Whitley, the new math teacher, arrived at Archbishop Carroll this year.
Mr. Whitley’s favorite part about teaching is that every day is different.
“I have the students to thank for making my days never the same,” said Mr. Whitley.
Mr. Whitley was originally a data analyst but he didn’t like it. He then moved with his wife for a year to Spain, where he began his career as an educator by teaching English. Next, he taught math in New Jersey, and then moved to Carroll.
“What I like about Carroll is that there is a sense of community,” said Mr. Whitley.
At Carroll, Mr. Whitley teaches a mixture of geometry, algebra and calculus classes to a mixture of sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Mr. Whitley studied math at Providence College in Rhode Island and then at Stockton University in New Jersey.
He is known as a chill teacher among his students.
“He’s a calm teacher,” said sophomore John Barber.
Mr. Whitley is liked by his students.
“His passion for the subject is contagious,” said sophomore Mencia Redruello.
Mr. Whitley said he’s enjoyed his time at Carroll so far and is looking to settle down here.
“So far, so good,” said Mr. Whitley.
