The 2023-2024 winter track season has begun and Archbishop Carroll’s indoor track team is anticipating its first meet on Dec. 8.
The winter track coach, Coach Robert Edwards, has high hopes for the season.
“I see nothing but great things in the future for this group,” Coach Edwards said.
Freshman Owen Gallagher said he is looking forward to the meets starting.
“I can’t wait to start competing in races,” Gallagher said.
Another freshman, Samantha Kernag, said she is ready to go.
“I am enjoying training and am ready to start racing in December,” Kernag said.
The indoor track meets will continue until Feb. 16. During the season, athletes will compete in relays, 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3000m, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, pole vault and hurdles. Athletes can enter up to two events per meet and coaches can put forward one or two athletes, depending on the event, per event.
Training will be split up for boys and girls. Both boys and girls will train in an indoor track in Glen Mills on Monday. Girls will train alone on Tuesdays in Carroll. Both boys and girls will train in Glen Mills on Wednesdays and boys will train alone at Carroll on Thursdays.
