Next month, the Archbishop Carroll Theater Society will present its fall musical, “Cinderella.”
The main cast includes junior Macie Schundler as Cinderella, sophomore Dylan Attas as Christopher, or Prince Charming, and senior Immacolata Capone as Fairy Godmother.
The musical will be a bit of a test for ACTS, according to Ms. Ellen Solderitsch, who is the choreographer. For one thing, the dancing in the show is graceful, a slightly different style than what is typical in musical theater.
“It brings a lot of new challenges and it’s a style of show we haven’t done in awhile,” Ms. Solderitsch said.
That is the case even though ACTS performed “The Little Mermaid” in the spring, according to Capone.
“ACTS just did ‘Little Mermaid,’ but ‘Little Mermaid’ is such a different fairy tale from ‘Cinderella,’” Capone said.
Capone called attention to the stage crew’s work on some of the fantastical elements of “Cinderella,” like the animals, the ball, and the costumes.
“I think they should most look forward to seeing the really creative choices we’re making with the horses and the puppets and the dove,” said Capone.
Ms. Solderitsch had a different opinion on what the audience should be looking forward to the most.
“I’m most excited for the transformation, and I think the audience should be, too,” she said. “It’s the magic.”
ACTS will perform the show Nov. 21 through Nov. 23 in the school auditorium. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online at https://acts.booktix.com/dept/main/e/Cind?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaakHm8EwYGtpx7gB3esHnJBSkgpeOCwzJEZPnsjVsxKpVFeCbTKkhLSIFQ_aem_RsV2e1bfiG_ZiMNj3_oJpg
