William Maguire: Senior memory

William Maguire

My favorite memory of my senior year is my Kairos retreat. I was part of Kairos 100.

Before going I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. I really like my routine, and new things are a bit intimidating to me.

When we arrived at the retreat house, I was relieved that everything was in one big building, and each person had a private room.

It was interesting to meet my group, and two group leaders. They made sure that the Kairos groups brought together kids who normally did not hang out together. Everyone was from different friend groups, and we had never spoken to, or hung out with each other before. It was nice to start forming new bonds of friendship. I even made new friends with kids outside of my Kairos group. Some of these kids are my best friends to this day.

My Kairos experience made me realize that I make a huge impact on my friends’ and familys’ lives. I became even more thankful for my life, and everything, and everyone in it.

I made memories with new friends, made stronger bonds with my lifelong friends, who also attended, and strengthened my faith with God. I also came to realize that it is good to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while.
