Because of Covid-19, fall sports at Archbishop Carroll were canceled for the first few weeks of the school year — a move that triggered mixed reactions among students.

“I am very disappointed because I was hoping for a five-time champion title for the PCL league,” said Kerry Ann Dillon, a senior and the middle hitter on the girls varsity volleyball team.

Senior Michael Young, who plays on the golf team, said a plan could have been created to allow fall sports to continue amid the pandemic. As it turns out, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will unveil such a plan soon.

“I think we should be able to play if the parents and players agree because it is possible to take extra precautions in order to maintain the health and safety of the players,” he said.

Jonathan Mai, a senior who plays outside defense on the JV soccer team, is resigned to the fall sports cancellation.

“I think it isn’t great because I’ve been playing soccer for a few years now, but I haven’t been totally dependent on it, so it’s acceptable.”
