Archbishop Carroll had a blowout win last week against Archbishop Ryan, beating them 40-6. Though the stands were nearly empty, Archbishop Carroll let everyone know they will be more than capable in a tough Philadelphia Catholic League this season.

Led by senior starting quarterback Nick Lamey, who threw for 176 yards and recorded two touchdown passes to senior receiver Malachi Hansen, the Patriots excelled past Archbishop Ryan.

In a post-game interview, Lamey was beyond excited. He said, “It was fun to be back out there with my friends that I have been playing with since freshman year. It meant a lot to come out on homecoming and dominate the game like we did. All around great game by Carroll and looking to keep this momentum going into weeks to come.”

Another senior, Brennan Robinson, had three touchdowns. One of his touchdowns was a three-yard rush on the team’s first drive of the game. The other two were kickoff returns. Those were the only two kickoff returns Carroll received.

“I felt really good going into the game,” Robinson said. “We felt really prepared but I couldn’t do any of it without my team. Everything I did was because of them and how they executed every single play.”

With three touchdowns from Robinson and two from Lamey to Hansen, the Patriots were in a good position. Senior Nate Gould added the icing on the cake, rushing for a 1-yard touchdown.

On the other side of things, Archbishop Ryan receiver Joe Mastrangelo received a screen pass from Dwayne Yost and ran 59 yards for the only Ryan touchdown of the game.

The Carroll football team will be put to the test once again at 7 p.m. today in a matchup against Bishop Shanahan. The Patriots showed much promise this past Saturday and they are looking to continue this success today.
