The 2026 Senior Field Day has come and gone, and it was jam-packed with fun events for the seniors.
Senior Field Day is an annual event that happens on the fields outside the cafeteria right before Memorial Day break. Run by Student Council representatives, it’s a competition between all senior homerooms– each one representing a country and wearing a specific color – to see which homeroom will win the most activities.
Mrs. Janine Cahill’s homeroom was Ireland (green), Mr. Sean Cahir’s homeroom was Italy (red), Mrs. Diane Amlin’s homeroom was the USA (Blue), Mr. Ronald Cummings’ homeroom was Greece (White), Mr. John Zamulinsky’s homeroom was Brazil (Yellow), and Ms. Cleo Hoey’s homeroom was Germany (Black).
Junior Student Council members led the homerooms to each of their stations throughout the day, and cheered them on along the way, while sophomores helped out at the specific stations and kept everything in order. Some even had their own favorite parts of the fun-filled day, like junior Connor Hnat, representing Mr. Cahir’s homeroom.
“My favorite part of the day was watching team Ireland drag team Italy across the floor in tug of war!” Hnat stated.
Each homeroom would compete against another homeroom in each activity. Teachers and faculty like Mr. Cahir, Mr. Kyle Robinson, and Deacon Michael Fohner volunteered to be participants in one of the most popular activities: the dunk tank. They each took turns in the hot seat, being dunked repeatedly by their own students into the freezing cold water.
“The water’s so cool, I can feel my knees knocking together!” a shivering Deacon Fohner said.
Other activities included tug of war, knockout, an obstacle course, and dodgeball.
Senior Emmie Menna shared her favorite activities.
“My favorite activity during Senior Field Day had to be either the inflatable knock out or the dunk tank,” she said. “Both were much harder than they looked, but were so much fun to be a part of! Who knew getting hurled at by a heavy inflatable ball could be so scary?”
While Greece seemed to be favored to win, Ireland ended up stealing the show. Congratulations to Mrs. Cahill and her homeroom on their big win!
