The Archbishop Carroll girls field hockey team won on their senior night against Archbishop Wood last Friday. The team pulled through after their loss against rival Cardinal O’Hara, winning 6-1.

The team’s record is now 10-6, which moves Carroll to the second seed in the Philadelphia Catholic League.

“We did just take a tough loss against O’Hara, but we are gonna come back stronger than ever in the PCL chip!” said Laura Wineburg, a junior.

This Carroll team focuses a lot on the bonds they share and how they can learn from each other.

“I love my teammates,” Wineburg said. “We do a lot of team bonding stuff. We’re very much focused on our motto: Unity! We play as a team, we practice as a team, we do preseason as a team, we do everything together, so we are really bonded by that.”

The girls will be playing to make it to the PCL championship in two weeks.

“I want the seniors to know that we’re going to win the PCL championship for them and that no matter what, everyone else has their backs through the rest of the season,” said junior Sienna Golden.

The senior influence spreads throughout all the girls on the field hockey team.

“They all have impacted me in different ways,” said junior Beth Wineburg, “They’re very important and crucial to the team, and I’m not sure how we’re gonna play without them next year.”
