At the Archbishop Carroll boys’ varsity basketball game on Feb. 4, the girls’ lacrosse team was recognized for their second straight state championship win.

The girls on the lacrosse team for the 2022 season were honored at halftime. The girls’ names were called and President Dr. Tricia Scott and the lacrosse coaching staff congratulated them.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our accomplishments as a team,” said senior Ella Wright. “We worked hard all last year to be state champions again and it paid off.”

Head coach Lorraine Beers was honored at the game with unveiling the championship banner.

“Coach Beers creates a team of girls who respect and work hard at what she does and what she says,” said senior Mary Matey. “She’s dedicated to coaching not only just in season, but all year around.”

The girls already set their sights on their third straight state championship. They have been training and practicing for the majority of this year.

“Playing lacrosse all year around helps the team more and leads us to these victories because we build up our team chemistry and keep getting reps in on different aspects of the game,” said junior Sienna Golden.
