Last week, Archbishop Carroll’s Interact Club kicked off its 2025-26 itinerary by paying a visit to the Wayne Senior Center and serving lunch.
Students helped chefs in the kitchen plate food for the center’s Thanksgiving “dinner” (it was served for lunch, though), and got the opportunity to interact with the members of the center. Additionally, the members were able to dance to some fun music provided by the center, and enjoy some desserts.
Moderated by Mr. Tom Quintois, the Interact organization is run through the Wayne Rotary. It is led by President Maddie Freeman, a senior, and Vice President Dylan Attas, a junior. It is a service-based organization that focuses on giving back to the local community and connecting with individuals from all across the district.
Attas shared what he’s looking forward to this year for Interact.
“Giving back as much as I can to the communities, and being more involved with other students outside of the school,” Attas said. “I really enjoy working with the Rotary and hearing all of their stories from their experiences. I especially am looking forward to creating a network and community inside of Carroll that always has its doors open to everyone interested.”
Among those who joined the Interact Club this year were sophomore Ivery Potoway and senior Emily Fakette. They said they had positive experiences on the trip to the Wayne Senior Center.
“I would say that the event really made me enjoy life, because of all of the stories that I heard,” Potoway said.
“Overall, I think that the event went better than expected,” Fakette said. “I loved how open the seniors were with telling us about their life sories, and how welcoming they were to us.”
